The Apple learning group was welcomed by a space setup with cardboard boxes of a variety in sizes. The children from the classroom transitioned to the area excitedly and safely with all the Bay teaching team and parents chaperones. As soon as the children entered the Mezzanine area with many boxes on the floor, they quickly began exploring them. Daniel was the very first one to notice the bottomless boxes, said “Tunnels!”, and crawled through them.
As soon as the children entered the Mezzanine area with many boxes on the floor, they quickly began exploring them. Daniel was the very first one to notice the bottomless boxes, said “Tunnels!”, and crawled through them. Observing Daniel crawl through the box tunnel, Hudson followed after Daniel right away. Both Daniel and Hudson exhibited their spatial awareness and skills to adjust own bodies in order to fit into the box tunnel.
Annika found sitting in a box comfortable and stayed in it for a while. This simple recycled material has a potential to be a million things, and it is up to the youngsters’ imagination. Colored masking tapes were also provided as an additional experience for children. Isana was using her small motor skills and hand-eye coordination to peel the masking tape.
Daniel’s father helping to cut out masking tape into a small pieces. The children were using the words “help please”, “more”, “sticky”, “tape” to communicate.
